Yesterday’s E3 2021 Nintendo Direct had more than a few crowd-pleasing announcements. Not only did Nintendo announce Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp after years of demands from series fans, they also unveiled the next mainline 2D Metroid title, Metroid Dreada game nearly two decades in the making.

Following its announcement, we’ve seen quite a bit of the game in action, first through snippets shown in a video detailing the game’s development, and then over 20 minutes of uninterrupted footage courtesy of Nintendo’s Treehouse livestream. Metroid Dread got another Treehouse segment dedicated to it later on in the day, showing even more gameplay footage, detailing everything from exploration to the environments to boss fights, and even showing a new power-up called the Spider Magnet, which lets players stick to certain walls and ceilings and then move along them. Take a look at it below.

Metroid Dread is out on October 8, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. A Special Edition of the game has also been detailed. Read more on that through here.
