Ascendant Studios and EA Originals debuted new gameplay for Immortals of Aveum, delving more into the first-person shooter’s magical combat. As Jak, players harness three Colors of magic with different Sigils whilst battling Sandrakk and his forces in the Everwar. In addition, other types of spells aid in everything from combat to exploration.

First are Furies, which deal more damage than regular spells but use Fury Mana, replenished from crystals in chests or that drop from enemies. By upgrading skills, you can find other ways to recharge it (like passive regeneration). Augments assist in exploration and help restore parts of the land, hover, move objects or solve puzzles, exposing secrets throughout.

Powered by Totems, Control Spells provide some crowd control, whether you’re pulling enemies with Lash, slowing them with Limpets or using Disrupt to beam them down. There’s also Immolate, a Dominion spell which combines all three Colors into one powerful beam to burn through multiple enemies.

Immortals of Aveum launches on August 22nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Check out some more extensive gameplay here.
