Everspace 2 Early Access Response “Exceeded Our Wildest Expectations” – Rockfish CEO

The developer will share its first roadmap soon.

Rockfish Games’ Everspace 2 launched last week for Steam Early Access and GOG Games in Development on PC. It’s off to a good start thus far CEO and co-founder Michael Schade stating that it had “exceeded our wildest expectations.” The space combat title had over 260,000 wishlists on Steam and even managed to the top the Steam worldwide charts for a time.

According to Schade, “After a few hours, we saw over 3,000 simultaneous players which is more than double the record of the lower-priced, original Everspace in its first big sale.” The current release features the first 12 hours of the campaign with side missions. The first two star systems are available along with five different ship sub-class types. Schade also noted that the team would share its first roadmap in the coming days after its gone through feedback.

Everspace 2 is currently planned to launch in 2022 with its stint in early access lasting 12 to 18 months. It will be available for PC first and include eight star systems, numerous ship types and items, more activities and a 30 hour plus campaign. The Xbox One and PS4 versions will release later next year so stay tuned for more details.
