Everspace 2 Aiming for 4K on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro

Though the PS4 Pro version will probably "go a bit easier on VFX."

Everspace 2’s draw of being able to explore the fully open and vast expanses of outer space is a fascinating one, and hopefully, it’ll back that up with some stellar sights to see for its players. And hopefully, those sights will sport some truly impressive tech. At least as far as the game’s Xbox One X and PS4 Pro release is concerned, developers Rockfish Games are looking to hit some lofty heights.

In a recent interview, Rockfish’s CEO Michael Schade confirmed to us that the game will be looking support 4K visuals on the Xbox One X, while it might also have an option for 1080p visuals but with higher frame rates, similar to the first Everspace.

“We haven’t optimized game performance too much yet, but we plan to support 4K as well as an enhanced visual experience in full 1080p with a higher framerate on Xbox One X, like we did in the predecessor,” Schade told GamingBolt.

As for the PS4 Pro, owing to the console being less powerful than the Xbox One X, there might be some cutbacks. Though the game will still look to hit 4K (or 60 FPS in performance mode), it might have to make some sacrifices in the VFX department.

“The PS4 Pro is a bit less powerful than the Xbox One X, so we will probably have to slightly reduce the screen size on the regular PS4 model and maybe go a bit easier on VFX on PS4 Pro to support 4K and hit 60 FPS in the visually enhanced mode in 1080p,” Schade said.

Everspace 2 is due out in 2021, but will be hitting early access next year. And don’t worry- the developers are adamant on making sure it launches on Steam.
